I do not have many pet peeves. I am a generally non-irratated person. Of course there are some exceptions, such as large speed bumps, back seat drivers, and the noise that the air conditioning makes when it is on high (it's like an extended whisper without saying anything). However, today I discovered a new one. Today a girl at least 4 years younger than me started off a condesceding sentence with "Darling". I believe the sentence was "Darling, you will see the name of the server on the receit".
I've always thought of the word "Darling" as an endearing precious term that only lovers or cute old couples used to talk to anyone and everyone because they had the right too. This recent high school graduate used the word as false sweetness. Which then turned the otherwise helpful comment into a degrading reprimand.
I should've said "Thank you, sweetheart" and been done with the whole thing. However, it is not in my nature to be equally annoying. Lucky for her.

i know how you feel. one of my campers this summer who was at least six years younger than i made a habit of calling me "hun."
i hate that.
so i gave her the stink-eye.
O aa, you stink-eye giver!
There are few times that I don't like being called "honey" or "darling" or something similar, but whenever one of those times occurs, it really gets to me and I have to fight against giving the stink-eye.
I'm glad that your blogger profile states that you like Country Bears. Remember when we watched that at the Schallert's? Good times indeed. Visit soon?
